Overview

Beyond Preservation: The New Stewards of Family Wealth

The world is entering an unprecedented intergenerational transfer with more than US$80 trillion expected to change hands over the next two decades. The shift of wealth to new generation of capital owners has a profound implication for strategic investment priorities and economic growth.

As family enterprises and their investment arm -family office- navigate these new economic realities amid geopolitical uncertainty, technological disruption and evolving societal expectations, they face a critical question: how can they move beyond preserving wealth to stewarding capital in ways that drive renewal, growth, and enduring impact?

A new generation of family owners and wealth stewards are bringing fresh perspectives on risk, innovation, sustainability, and purpose. Their priorities are reshaping investment philosophies, governance models, and the future direction of family capital. At the same time, families must balance the opportunities presented in private markets, alternative investments and entrepreneurial ventures with the responsibility of sustaining legacy and alignment across generations.

Hosted by the INSEAD Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise, the conference will convene leaders, principals and executives from family-owned enterprises and family offices, next generation family members, investors, and academics to explore how family wealth can be institutionalised to support both growth, regeneration and intergenerational continuity.

The summit will examine the evolving relationship between family capital and private markets, the emergence of new investment models for wealth renewal, and the governance challenges that arise as families expand beyond traditional business ownership into increasingly sophisticated investment portfolios. Discussions will also address the modernisation of office family structures, the role of patient capital and private equity in long-term value creation, and the tensions and opportunities that accompany generational transitions in stewardship and decision-making.

Together, participants will engage on some of the key questions:

  • How will the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history reshape investment strategies and family enterprises?
  • What does responsible stewardship look like in an era that demands both financial performance and societal value creation?
  • How can families bridge differing generational perspectives on risk, returns, and investment horizons?
  • What capabilities and governance models are needed to build future-ready family offices?
  • What dynamics and tensions threaten multigenerational continuity, and how can families build resilience for the future?

This exclusive event is designed for business families, family office leaders, principals, next generation wealth owners, and private capital partners seeking practical insights into the future of family enterprises and long-term capital.

Join us for a thought-provoking summit with opportunities for peer exchange and fresh perspectives on how families can transform wealth stewardship into a catalyst for growth, regeneration, and enduring legacy.

We are thankful to FBN Asia for the support in organising this conference.
