The INSEAD–Singer Collaborative will shape the future of research, teaching, and outreach in negotiation and conflict management.
Fontainebleau, France, 28 October 2025 - INSEAD, the Business School for the World, has received a €1.9 million gift from John Singer MBA’78 to strengthen the Negotiation and Conflict Management Collaborative (NCMC). Led by Professors Horacio Falcão, Roderick Swaab, and Eric Luis Uhlmann, the NCMC positions INSEAD as a global leader in negotiation and conflict management through cutting-edge research, innovative teaching, and impactful outreach.
In collaboration with John Singer, the NCMC will engage top faculty, doctoral students, and practitioners to jointly generate and disseminate rigorous, practical knowledge that equips leaders to resolve conflict more effectively and foster outcomes that are responsible, sustainable, and maximize value for all. His partnership will play a pivotal role in pushing the boundaries of negotiation and conflict management knowledge creation and dissemination, advancing impactful solutions for business and society.
“I passionately believe in the need to provide additional lenses and filters for business students to look at problems in addition to the more standard ones that have been taught over the years,” said John Singer MBA’78. “In today’s polarized world, it is vital that leaders embrace approaches that create trust, cooperation, and value for all.”
“We are deeply grateful to John Singer for his generosity and vision,” said Professor Horacio Falcão. “His engagement enables us to expand teaching and research across the MBA, MIM, PhD, and Executive Education programmes, while strengthening our global community of leaders. Together, this partnership will raise our collective ability to achieve sustainable, value-enhancing negotiation and conflict management – contributing to a better and more peaceful world.”
John Singer’s commitment to INSEAD spans more than two decades. Since his first gift 23 years ago, he has been a steadfast supporter of the School’s most important priorities. A familiar presence on the Fontainebleau campus, he regularly guest lectures in the MBA Private Equity course. Today, against the backdrop of global geopolitical challenges and guided by his lifelong dedication to developing values-driven business leaders, John Singer has chosen to make his most significant commitment yet to advancing the NCMC.
Professors Falcão, Swaab and Uhlmann won the 2025 Financial Times Responsible Business Education Award for Advanced Online Negotiations, and the Negotiation Course for the World has already reached thousands of learners worldwide, thanks to its free availability in English and Arabic, with AI-powered translations into 130 languages.
As a leading practitioner, John’s partnership will scale and impact the Collaborative, adding a new dimension that will take it to new heights.
Rooted in INSEAD’s founding mission after World War II to foster peace and prosperity through business education, this partnership will continue to generate and share knowledge that transforms how negotiation and conflict management are practiced worldwide.
