About Scholarship
Louis Franck was born in Belgium in 1907 and went to work in England as a young man. He became a prominent banker in the City of London and was responsible for transforming Samuel Montagu (now part of HSBC Investment Bank) from a quiet firm of bullion and foreign exchange dealers into a leading merchant bank.
During World War II, Louis Franck had a distinguished record in the British Army, including involvement in the clandestine Special Operations Executive, and was awarded the CBE in recognition of his services. Louis Franck died in Switzerland in September 1988.Up to eight scholarships are awarded each academic year.
Eligibility
UK nationals who are under 35 years old at time of interview. Financial need is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for being granted an award. Nevertheless, the candidate's financial position will be taken into account, and awards will not necessarily be granted to the best candidate(s) if there is a sound candidate who is in financial need.
How it works:
Louis Franck Foundation manages this scholarship. It therefore has a different and longer decision cycle that does not coincide with other INSEAD scholarship dates. Applications from Admission rounds 1, 2 and 3 will be shared with the Foundation in April for the July Class and in early September for the December Class. Thereafter the Foundation will inform candidates on the interviews. Decisions will be communicated to all applicants after the interviews.
Interviews:
Candidates must be available for interviews that will take place in May for the July Class and in October for the December Class. Interview date has been set for the December'26 Class on 8 October 2025 (In person interview at Rawlinson & Hunter’s offices in Central London).
Candidates are asked to take their current UK passport, and four passport size photographs with them to the interview.
After graduation:
Selected scholars are required to write a thesis or report (the subject of which to be agreed with the Trustees) to be presented to the Trustees within three months of graduation.
