INSEAD recognised for real-world impact of its research in new Financial Times Ranking

This month saw INSEAD positioned #10 worldwide and the top business school outside the U.S. in the Financial Times (FT) Research Ranking. The new ranking has been specifically developed to recognise research with rigour, relevance and most importantly real-world impact. INSEAD also ranked #2 in the Case Centre category and performed well in terms of faculty productivity.

Lily Fang, Dean of Research and Innovation at INSEAD, said: “This ranking acknowledges our commitment to rigorous and relevant research that develops new ideas and brings new knowledge to help tackle the global challenges we currently face. I am particularly proud of the high ranking for our faculty productivity and the recognition of the impact of our case portfolio.”

The ranking was released as part of the FT Research Insights Report and builds on the analysis of research output used in the FT Business Education rankings. As well as considering the number of papers published in select academic journals (the “FT50”), this new classification uses additional methodology to assess the impact and relevance that individual research papers have beyond academia. This includes the broader dissemination of research through teaching and engagement with students, business leaders and policy makers and how far specific research aligns with the most pressing needs of society.

INSEAD’s strong position is an recognition of the school’s ongoing commitment to leading research that generates innovative and relevant ideas across disciplines and topics.

This result follows the news that INSEAD had maintained its #3 position in The Case Centre Impact Index 2024 and our strong showing in the Case Centre Awards and Competitions 2024, where INSEAD became the first business school in the world to surpass 100 awards since the annual competition began in 1991.

Last academic year INSEAD faculty published 168 peer-reviewed papers and 73 new cases - placing it number one in the world for number of papers published in the top management journals in the University of Texas Dallas' global ranking.
