Contribution to Enhance Innovations in Entrepreneurship Research, Teaching and Outreach
INSEAD, the leading international business school, today announced it has received a €5 million donation from an alumnus to directly benefit the continued growth of the Rudolf and Valeria Maag International Centre for Entrepreneurship (Maag ICE). Founded in 2003, the Maag ICE was established to make INSEAD the preeminent leader in entrepreneurship research, teaching and outreach and serve as a catalyst for ‘building businesses in a global world.’ The Centre designs and implements initiatives to support the entrepreneurial activities of INSEAD faculty, students and alumni and brings together the international community of entrepreneurship stakeholders.
The donation will contribute to the Maag ICE’s mission and vision by innovating entrepreneurship teachings and providing focused research opportunities in business building. It will also support the continued development of high quality events to facilitate entrepreneurial deal flow by bringing together ideas, technologies, people and funding. Emphasising the theme ‘building businesses in a global world,’ the Centre’s four key pillars of excellence include:
- New Ventures Creation and Growth – Provides an understanding of the processes through which entrepreneurs build new organisations and create markets.
- Social Entrepreneurship – Evaluates the distinctive domain and innovative approach of social entrepreneurs and the important role of social enterprise in the global economy.
- Corporate Entrepreneurship – Offers an in-depth look at how new businesses are built in the context of established corporations and what it takes to launch new business units in emerging markets.
- Acquisitions and Turnarounds – Builds an understanding of the dynamics of re-setting the clock to an existing organisation through a turn-around or corporate transformation.
‘INSEAD was founded on an entrepreneurial vision and this spirit continues today through the engagement and generous support of our alumni and global partners,’ commented Filipe Santos, a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Rudolf and Valeria Maag International Centre for Entrepreneurship. ‘Our renowned faculty, entrepreneurial students and extensive global alumni network are establishing INSEAD as the world’s leading business school for entrepreneurship and a vehicle for fostering global business. The Maag Centre is the catalyst for these efforts’.
INSEAD’s overall entrepreneurship activities offer a broad selection of 20 MBA electives and rigorous research on ‘building business in a global world,’ by addressing the challenges and opportunities of developing new businesses as a mechanism for value creation. The programme combines prestigious academics who study entrepreneurial processes in different regions of the world with high-impact entrepreneurs who bring to the classroom their wealth of experience, through courses structured in interactive and immersive learning formats.
