‘The Business School for the World’ sets precedent in global business education, marking a half century of delivering world-class programmes, faculty and research
INSEAD, the leading international business school, today announced its 50th anniversary, celebrating a half century of excellence in business education. Since its inception and first MBA intake in1959, the school has been committed to providing a unique multicultural learning environment that brings together people, cultures and ideas from around the world.
To honour this historic event and launch INSEAD’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the school will host an exclusive ceremony on its Europe campus. Taking place on 12 September 2009, The Founders’ Celebration will bring together the founders of the school, the first MBA participants, faculty and staff, as well as key dignitaries. The event will commemorate the school’s founding by George Doriot and Jean Marcou, and the energy of those associated with its development throughout its history.
‘Creating global business leaders who have a worldly perspective and capability to operate across geographies has always been a part of INSEAD’s DNA,’ said J. Frank Brown, Dean of INSEAD. ‘Our ability to provide a diverse, multi-cultural experience, expert faculty, and innovative research and programmes is second to none. In the years to come, INSEAD will continue to set the management agenda and develop leaders who will redefine the nature of business.’
In addition to the Founders’ Celebration, INSEAD has planned several other events and institutional initiatives around its 50th anniversary to take place over the next year. Among those events are INSEAD’s Leadership Summit Asia on 6 November 2009 and the school’s first Leadership Summit in the Middle East which will take place on 17 January 2010. INSEAD’s Leadership Summits bring together hundreds of leaders each year to discuss the most timely topics that not only affect business, but the world community at large.
The school will also announce its exclusive list of the ‘Top 50 Alumni’ which will profile INSEAD graduates who are innovators in their field. A diverse group of leaders from around the world will share how their experience at INSEAD has impacted their current career; what drives them to impact the world; what motivates them to achieve success; and why strong leadership is essential in business today.
Claude Janssen, former Chairman of the INSEAD Board for more than 22 years, added: ‘INSEAD was founded 50 years ago with the unique vision of creating a leading business school for Europe, and has since expanded exponentially beyond its initial European focus. The fact that INSEAD has become the ‘Business School for the World’ is a testament to the imagination and energy of all those associated with its development, from the founders through to the current management and faculty.’
Along with its MBA, EMBA and PhD programmes, INSEAD also has one of the largest executive education offerings in the world. It was among the first business schools to provide customised executive programmes. The school has also developed innovative offerings such as the Masters in Finance programme for Macquarie and the Master of Entrepreneurial Leadership with the Department of Civil Service in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, INSEAD’s International Global Leadership Centre has cemented its lead in business coaching and leadership.
