"An Ecosystem to promote Business for a Better World" in Berlin
INSEAD, the leading international business school, today announced it will host its sixth annual Social Entrepreneurship Conference in Berlin, Germany on 7 October 2011 at the Hertie School of Governance. This year, INSEAD has partnered with the Centre for Social Investment of Heidelberg University and the Hertie School of Governance to deliver a full conference programme which will focus on the role and relationship of business, social enterprise, and public policy in building an eco-system to promote and enhance business for a better world.
'INSEAD is keen to contribute to the growing field of social entrepreneurship by educating the next generation of leaders and developing the knowledge and management frameworks that will enable them to achieve an extraordinary social impact,' said Filipe Santos, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Academic Director of INSEAD's Social Entrepreneurship Programme.‘We are honoured to work with such prestigious partners as the Centre for Social Investment of Heidelberg University and the Hertie School of Governance to develop a stimulating gathering that delivers a rich level of research, analysis and thinking on the world of social entrepreneurship.’
The conference will bring together more than 100 graduates of INSEAD’s Social Entrepreneurship Executive Education Programme (ISEP), leading practitioners, corporate/private sector leaders, policy makers and investors, donors and supporters. The programme will address how businesses can tap into the resourcefulness, dynamism, and skills of social entrepreneurs. Conference sessions will also explore how governments around the world can deal with policy issues related to regulation, registration, and taxing social entrepreneurship entities.
Conference speakers include Reinhard Pöllath of P+P Pöllath + Partners who will deliver the opening address, followed by a panel session with Stephen Brenninkmeijer, Andromeda Fund BV-Cofra Holding; Christoph Linzbach, German Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth; Filipe Santos, Professor at INSEAD; Norbert Kunz, IQ Consult/Impakt; and Volker Then, Centre for Social Investment. Other speakers will include: Andreas Heinecke, Dialogue Social Enterprise; Silvia Giovannoni, ASHOKA; Uli Grabenwarter, Bank of Luxembourg; Markus Hipp, BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt; and Hans H. Wahl, INSEAD.

A joint Social Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Workshop will be offered the day prior to the conference on 6 October 2011. The workshop will bring together members from INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship & INSEAD Health Networks to promote collaboration between social enterprises in the healthcare sector. INSEAD will also host a reunion on 8 October 2011 which will bring together ISEP executive education graduates from all nine ISEP sessions on both the Fontainebleau and Singapore campuses.

The Centre for Social Investment (CSI) is a central academic institute of Heidelberg University. Our mission is to enlarge knowledge and understanding of social investment in the society.
