Rising to the ESG Challenge: Routes Towards Effective Governance
Organised by the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC) in collaboration with Boards Impact Forum
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues are taking the main stage in global businesses today. More than ever, boards of directors are expected to play a pivotal role in stewarding their ESG agenda to drive positive impact through the organisations they oversee. The journey can be materialised through many practicable routes albeit no one-size-fits-all solution. To effectively confront ESG challenges, boards need to consider the sustainability of their governance structure to undergird implementation of long-term action plans that are aligned strategically across the organisation.
Organised by the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC), together with Boards Impact Forum, the Webinar and Digital Dialogue will delve into the latest findings from recent INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre research studies related to Designing Sustainability Governance and on Board ESG Pulse Check conducted with BCG which examines how boards are engaging with ESG matters today, the different board structures and complementary practices to firmly embed ESG and sustainability in their oversight.
Join us for an interactive exchange, as we showcase the research highlights presented by Ron Soonieus, Director in Residence with ICGC and Senior Advisor with BCG followed by a stimulating panel discussion with distinguished guest panellists:
- Johan Raslan, Independent Director, Sime Darby Property Berhad and Board Member of Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia;
- Lise Kingo, Non-Executive Director at Sanofi, Covestro and Aker Horizons;
- Noora Al Marzooqi, Vice President, Group Strategic Investments of ADNOC, Board Member of ADNOC LNG, ADNOC City Gas Company, Abu Dhabi Energy Real State Company LLC, and Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan Sustainability Initiatives;
- Susan Hooper, Chair of Tangle Teezer and Inter.Earth and Board Member of Moonpig plc, EUROWAG plc, and Uber UK.
They will share insights into the leading board structures to support ESG agenda which will lead to a fireside chat with Nicolas Naudin, Non-Executive Director Board, Human Cell Design and Member of the IFA/ESG steering Committee, Chair of the Non-Financial Reporting Working Group and Member of the EU Confederation of Directors’ Association (ecoDa) Task Force on ESG who will share perspective on the regulatory landscape, arbitrary role of the board and the imperative of consistency in integrating ESG into the heart of strategy and applied across the different dimensions of business from product/service design to communication, remuneration, capital allocation and investment decisions.
We are very thankful to Boards Impact Forum for the collaboration in hosting this virtual event.
