Biography
Lise Kingo is an Independent Board Director at Sanofi S.A., France, Covestro A.G, Germany and Aker Horizons ASA, Norway. She is also Member of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Humanitarian and Development Advisory Board, Denmark; and Chair of the Advisory Committee Leonardo Centre, Imperial College, London, United Kingdom.
She is the former CEO & Executive Director of United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainable business initiative, appointed in 2015 by former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in New York, USA.
She joined Novo Nordisk in 1988, where she remained for 26 years. She served as Chief of Staff, Executive Vice President, and member of the Executive Management team since 2002, where she was instrumental in defining Novo Nordisk's sustainable business strategy.
She is a former visiting professor at the Medical Faculty, Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, NL and a longstanding member of HRH Prince of Wales, Cambridge University Faculty for Sustainability Leadership, London, UK. She has received numerous awards, most recently the Thomson Reuters Responsible Business Honouree Award 2020.
A native of Denmark, Lise Kingo holds bachelor degrees (BAs) in Religions and Ancient Greek Art from the University of Aarhus in Denmark, a bachelor degree in Marketing and Economics (BCom) from the Copenhagen Business School and a master degree (MSc) in Responsibility & Business from the University of Bath in the UK. Furthermore, Lise Kingo is certified as a director by INSEAD, IDP-C’15Oct, in France.
Throughout her career, she has held positions in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, and the United States.
