PhD Summer Camp - AI for Research in Organization Science

We are pleased to announce a Summer Camp in Using AI for Research in Organization Science at INSEAD Fontainebleau from 19 - 21 June 2025. Online participation is also possible.
This short doctoral level course will be taught by Phanish Puranam (INSEAD) and Vivianna Fang He (UCL).
About the Camp
Course Objectives
The course will cover the latest research at the frontiers of AI applications for research on organizations.
Who should attend
This course will be of particular interest to PhD students exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies in organizational research, including areas such as Strategy, Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Theory, and Entrepreneurship.
Students in good standing from any PhD programme are welcome to apply to participate either in-person or online.
Key Topics covered
- The different types of AI - such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Generative AI - and their potential applications in research on organizations.
- Applications of AI tools and techniques to key aspects of the research process: induction, abduction, deduction and testing.
- The benefits and challenges of using AI in research, including understanding the difference between ethical and unethical use of AI.

Note that this course is not about studying AI as a phenomenon, but on the use of AI as a research tool.

Who can apply to participate in the camp?
PhD students specializing in Strategy, Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Theory, or Entrepreneurship, who are interested in exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies in organizational research, are encouraged to participate. Students in good standing from any PhD programme are welcome to apply, with the option to attend either in person or online.
How many PhD students / faculty will be accepted to participate?
We aim to accommodate approximately 30–35 in-person participants and 15–20 online participants.
How do I apply?
To apply, please complete the application form (click here), upload your CV and a short letter explaining why you want to attend.
What is the deadline for application?

Registration and Fees
Registration
To ensure successful application to the camp, please kindly:

- Submit the following supporting documents:

- and a short letter explaining why you want to attend.

Please submit your application by 1 April 2025.
Admitted candidates will be notified by end April 2025.
Fees
Note: Registration fees waived for INSEAD PhD Students and Faculty
Non-INSEAD Student participation:
(In-person): 500 Euros, participants to cover own travel and accommodations.
(Online): 150 Euros
Non-INSEAD Faculty participation:
(In-person) : 1000 Euros, participants to cover own travel and accommodations.
(Online) : 300 Euros
Registration fee is applicable to external school students and faculty for the attendance:
Fees will include workshop attendance, daily meals and other social events.
Confirmation of your registration will be communicated to you via email.
For non-INSEAD students and faculty, payments instructions will be provided in the email confirmation.
Admission will be finalized upon receipt of payment.
Cancellation Policy
In order to provide a quality summer camp experience for all attendees, INSEAD will apply the following refund policy to the registration fees:
Full refund (no penalty): Cancellations made by May 1, 2025.
30% refund: Cancellations received between May 2 and June 2, 2025 (inclusive).
No refund: Cancellations made after June 2, 2025.
All attendees are encouraged to subscribe to personal travel insurance.
