Chairs, professorships, and fellowships make an impact on the very engine that drives INSEAD: our world-class faculty. By investing in our scholars, donors elevate our excellence and generate knowledge in areas critical to business and the world at large. Although they come from the world of business, donors who invest in faculty understand the mechanics of career progression in academia and the role recognition plays in it. By creating prestigious positions for each stage in the faculty journey, they expand INSEAD’s capacity to recruit and retain outstanding scholars, bolstering our academic reputation.
Leadership gifts from donors have enabled the school to establish 56 chairs, professorships, and fellowships – a permanent asset. Highly prized by our faculty, these positions are considered the gold standard of institutional recognition in all academia.
Successive holders of these prestigious positions at INSEAD have, directly or indirectly, strengthened entire departments, such as strategy, marketing, technology and operations management, and entrepreneurship. Professors in these areas have generated breakthrough ideas, including Blue Ocean Strategy, closed loop supply chain models, and the power of creative destruction. Positions in cross-disciplinary fields, such as sustainability, wealth inequality, leadership, and innovation, are allowing INSEAD to engage top scholars in addressing critical questions. These professors are advancing knowledge on a wide range of subjects, from renewable energy transition, inventions, and human capital to nutrition and health. Together, they widen INSEAD’s network and enhance our reputation through their roles as editors of influential journals, members of government advisory boards, policy advisors, and participants in key forums.
The eminence of our faculty is exemplified in the profile of Alexandra Roulet, Assistant Professor of Economics, who was recently awarded the Mathieu Guillemin MBA’97J Fellowship in Business and Society. Alexandra’s research on labour economics has been published in leading journals and earned prestigious awards. In 2024, Alexandra was named the best French economist under 40. She was an economic advisor to President Macron and Prime Minister Borne from June 2022 to September 2023.
