Dr Franz B. Humer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of INSEAD, the leading international business school, today announced the appointment of seven new Members to the INSEAD Board.
The new members, elected for three-year terms, are: Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO, Maison Moët & Chandon; Frédéric Lemoine, Chairman of the Executive Board, Wendel Group; Leonidas Los, Shipbroker, Trimarine Shipping Company; Julie Meyer, Founder & CEO, Ariadne Capital Ltd; Mika Salmi, Chairman, Sulake; Mirjam Staub-Bisang, Founder & Managing Partner, Independent Capital Management and Andrew Witty, CEO, GlaxoSmithKline.
We would like to welcome our incoming directors and thank INSEAD’s departing board members Rolf Abdon (Abdon Mills); Roland Berger (Roland Berger Strategy Consultants); Ana Patricia Botin (Santander Group); Michael Butt (AXIS Capital Holding Ltd); John Clarkeson (The Boston Consulting Group Inc.); Baron Daniel Janssen (Solvay SA); Sir Andrew Large (Former Deputy Director, Bank of England); Charles Mackay (Historic Royal Palaces); Rob Routs (AEGON NV); Ernest-Antoine Seillière (Wendel); and Cees van Lede (Heineken NV) for their generous support and loyal service to the school over many years,’ said Dr. Humer.
The INSEAD Board is comprised of 26 internationally recognised business leaders representing all industry sectors and a dozen different nationalities. Over half of the members are INSEAD alumni, and over one fifth are women.
Several Board Committees, appointed by and reporting to the Board, also involving representatives of the school’s management and external experts, deal with more specific issues: the Audit and Finance Committee; the Endowment Management Committee; the Nomination and Governance Committee and the Remuneration Committee and, when appropriate, the Campaign Board, the Dean Search Committee and the Chairman Search Committee.
In addition, Dr Humer announced the creation of the INSEAD Advisory Council that will convey the wisdom, experience and commitment of individuals close to the school. Several of the outgoing board directors will join the newly established INSEAD Advisory Council. Its principal role will be to further develop the school’s strategic thinking as well as help perpetuate its founding principles and values. As the name suggests, the Council acts in a purely advisory capacity to the Board and the Dean. Membership is by invitation from the Chairman of the INSEAD Board and is a select group of no more than 20 members. Sir Andrew Large (MBA ‘70), will serve as the Council’s first Chairman.
