INSEAD has created the INSEAD African Faculty Fellowship which aims to assist in the capacity building of African business schools, as well as bring about greater exposure of African business issues and facilitate the transfer of knowledge to INSEAD faculty.
The Fellowship is open to two faculty members of the Global Business School Network’s African member schools who will spend two months as ‘visiting scholars’ during the academic year 2008/9 at INSEAD, at either of the school’s two campuses in Fontainebleau, France or in Singapore, under INSEAD’s African Initiative, part of the school’s Social Innovation Centre. The Fellows will attend research seminars and workshops, and may be granted funds for research or case writing projects jointly with INSEAD faculty. They will also contribute to INSEAD programmes as guest speakers in the classroom.
“As the business school of the world, we want to play an active role in helping with the capacity building of Sub-Saharan African business schools. We are confident that their time with INSEAD will be professionally rewarding and inspiring. INSEAD also looks forward to learn and be enriched by the experience,“ said Frank Brown, Dean of INSEAD.
With the emphasis on the exchange of information, the Fellowship will allow for the transfer of knowledge to INSEAD faculty in terms of exposure to African business issues, joint case-writing projects and MBA student projects, among others.
The Fellowship is expected to increase not only INSEAD’s visibility in Africa but also the flow of African applicants to its programmes.
