MASTERCLASS

Why does leadership matter?

At the start of your career, your success depended on your ability to work effectively yourself. You needed technical skills relevant to your job, and resourcefulness to attain goals set to you by your manager. But as you progress, your success will increasingly depend on getting other people to work effectively. You will have to coordinate them, align their goals, solve interpersonal problems they create, and promote well-functioning teams. Leadership is the art and science of doing this well. Although your technical skills got you here, your interpersonal skills are what will carry you through the next stage of your career. The leadership curriculum at INSEAD will prepare you for this transition. In this session, we will explain the importance of leadership, break down the core interpersonal skills it requires, and provide an example of how to use frameworks to master them.

BIOGRAPHY

Nadav Klein | Professor of Organisational Behaviour

Nadav is an Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD. His research focuses on the basic processes of judgment that affect how people make decisions, process information, and evaluate others and themselves. Some of the findings Nadav has explored are the surprising reputational benefits of being a little bit nice to other people, the ability of groups to detect lies, people's weak desire to be seen as moral and strong desire not to be seen as immoral, and people's overestimation of how much information they use to make decisions.
