Accessibility Statement - INSEAD online learning platform

This accessibility statement explains how accessible the INSEAD Online Learning platform is, what we are doing to improve it, and how you can report issues or request support.

As an Executive Education department of a top-tier business school, INSEAD operates a range of digital systems, each of which may have its own accessibility features and statements. This statement specifically relates to the INSEAD Online Programmes delivered via the Intrepid Learning Management System (LMS) https://online-learning.insead.edu/.

Scope of This Statement

This statement applies to:
•    The INSEAD Online Learning platform (Intrepid LMS)
•    Learning materials such as PDFs, videos, and downloadable files created by INSEAD

For the accessibility features of third-party technologies we use/embbed in the course platform (such as Zoom, Articulate 360, Microsoft Office, AI tools, simulations etc.), please refer to their individual accessibility statements.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our online learning platform.
For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Access content on different devices, including mobile and tablets
  • Navigate most of the platform using just a keyboard
  • Listen to most content using a screen reader
  • Download transcripts for course videos
  • Used closed captions or subtitles for video content
  • Access handouts in downloadable formats
  • Adjust text size or use browser tools without loss of content or functionality
  • View content with sufficient colour contrast and consistent layout

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards and are continually working to improve the accessibility of our content and systems.

We acknowledge that some areas of the platform may not yet fully meet these standards, but we are actively working to improve accessibility across the platform.

Measures to support accessibility

We take the following steps to ensure accessibility:

  • Accessibility is included in internal policies and training
  • Quality assurance processes include accessibility checks
  • Learner feedback is encouraged and acted upon
  • Accessibility goals are shared with staff and aligned with INSEAD’s DEI initiative

How accessible is our platform?

Currently, the INSEAD Online Learning platform is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-Accessible Content Includes:

Some documents are difficult to use with screen readers

Some PDF documents on the website are not fully adapted for screen readers. This can make it difficult to understand the content, move between sections, or access important information in the document.
This may affect people who are blind or have low vision and use screen readers to access information.

Images and infographics in course materials may be hard to understand

Some handouts and course materials contain infographics, charts, or visual explanations without text descriptions. If information is only shown visually, some users may miss important parts of the content.
This may affect people who are blind, have low vision, or have cognitive disabilities and need information presented in different ways.

Some videos do not explain visual information in audio

Some course videos do not include audio descriptions of important visual content, such as text shown on screen, demonstrations, or visual actions that are not explained in speech.
This may affect people who are blind or have low vision.

Some interactive learning activities are difficult to use

Some interactive elements, such as drag and drop exercises or flip cards, are not fully accessible with keyboards or assistive technologies. This can make it difficult to complete exercises or access information.
This may affect people who cannot use a mouse, people using screen readers, or people with motor disabilities.

Page titles and headings are not always clear and structured

Some pages do not use headings in a clear and consistent way. This can make it harder to understand the structure of the page and find the right content quickly.
This may affect people who use screen readers, people with cognitive disabilities, or users who rely on keyboard navigation.

The service can be difficult to use on smaller devices

Some parts of the website and learning platform are not fully adapted for smaller screens or mobile devices. Users may need to scroll in multiple directions, zoom in, or rotate their device to access certain content or functions.
This may affect people with low vision who need to zoom in, people with motor disabilities who use mobile devices, or users who rely on mobile accessibility tools.

Some buttons and clickable elements are unclear for assistive technologies

In some cases, the visible text shown on buttons or clickable objects does not match the information provided to assistive technologies. This can create confusion about what an element does.
This may affect people who use screen readers or voice control software.

Some sections and related information are not grouped clearly

Certain areas of content and groups of links are not structured in a clear way for assistive technologies. This can make navigation more difficult and make relationships between content unclear.
This may affect people who use screen readers or keyboard navigation.

Some text content is not structured correctly

Some paragraphs and text sections are not coded correctly, which can make the reading order or content structure unclear for assistive technologies.
This may affect people who use screen readers or other reading support tools.

Some tables are difficult for assistive technologies to interpret

Some tables are not structured correctly, which can make it difficult to understand how rows and columns are connected.
This may affect people who use screen readers or people with cognitive disabilities who rely on clear structure.

Important status changes may be difficult to notice

When something changes on the page, such as a message being updated or a task being completed, the information may be announced to assistive technologies without moving the user to the updated area. This can make the change difficult to notice or understand in context.
This may affect people who use screen readers or users with attention or cognitive difficulties.

Live video calls and recordings may not always include captions

Live sessions, webinars, and recorded video content do not always include captions by default. Captions can be provided upon request.
This may affect people who are deaf or hard of hearing, people who are not fluent in the spoken language, or users accessing content in noisy or quiet environments.

Disproportionate Burden

Providing audio descriptions for all pre-recorded videos has been assessed as a disproportionate burden at this time, due to the volume and turnover of video content and associated costs. However, we can provide audio descriptions on request for specific videos.

Content Outside the Scope of Regulations

The following are considered outside the scope of the accessibility regulations:

  • PDFs or Word documents published before 23 September 2018 not essential to learning
  • Live video calls and recordings (captions can be provided upon request)

Accessibility Features in Use

We are implementing or have adopted the following features, including some WCAG 2.2 AAA criteria:

  • Decorative text images only used when necessary
  • Full transcripts for course videos
  • Link purpose is identifiable from the link text alone or with context provided by surrounding content.
  • Use of section headings to organise content

Compatibility with browsers & assistive technologies

Our platform is designed to be compatible with:

  • Modern browsers (we recommend using the latest version)
  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Text-to-speech software (NaturalReader)
  • Screen magnifiers (browser-based tools)

Supported technologies include HTML and CSS.

How We Tested Accessibility

The evaluation was conducted by independent experts from Funka. The website was assessed using manual testing and assistive technologies against EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2, Level A and AA.

  • Testing period: 29 August 2025 - 7 September 2025
  • Last updated: 20 March 2026
  • Original statement date: 7 September 2025

What We’re Doing to Improve

We are committed to continuous improvement, and our action plan includes:

  • Replacing non-accessible PDFs with accessible alternatives
  • Training course creators in accessible design
  • Maintaining an Accessibility Task Force (INSEAD and Funka)
  • Conducting regular review checkpoints

Requesting Support or Reporting Accessibility Issues

If you are unable to access content or experience difficulties, please let us know. We will respond within five working days.

If you encounter an accessibility issue that prevents you from accessing content or functionality and you do not receive a satisfactory response, you may contact the Défenseur des droits:

Feedback Management Process

  • We acknowledge receipt of feedback within five working days
  • Urgent issues are prioritised and resolved as quickly as possible
  • Non-urgent matters are included in regular review cycles and our improvement roadmap
  • We aim to deliver requested accessible alternatives (e.g. audio descriptions) within 15 working days

LMS Provider Statement

Please refer to our LMS provider website (Intrepid) for their own Accessibility Statement, which includes details about their platform’s conformance.
