Biography
Yannik Escher is a Postdoctoral Researcher at INSEAD, joining in September 2026. He holds a PhD in Organizational and Social Psychology from Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany and an MSc and BSc in Psychology from the University of Bern, Switzerland and the University of Hamburg, Germany. Prior to INSEAD, he was a Research Associate and Lecturer at Leuphana University and a Visiting Researcher at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley, USA.
His research examines negotiation and conflict management, with a focus on personality, team composition and social psychological and cognitive processes in bargaining. He combines interactive experiments, large scale field and online data, multi lab collaborations and AI enabled methods to study how negotiators behave, how teams perform and how tactics and processes unfold over time. His work has appeared in journals such as Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Current Opinion in Psychology, Negotiation and Conflict Management Research, Social Psychological and Personality Science and Scientific Data.
At INSEAD, he is working on projects including an AI enabled experimental investigation of tactics and processes in negotiating with “dark” personalities and predictors of substantive and relational negotiation success in team on team negotiations, in collaboration with Roderick Swaab, Horacio Falcão and Eric Uhlmann.
