After concluding his undergraduate studies at the Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto, Gonçalo moved to Milan to pursue an MSc in Finance at Bocconi University. During this time, he began his research activities as he interned at the Banco de Portugal in the Financial Intermediation Division at the Economics and Research Department. He concluded his MSc studies with the completion of his masters thesis, being awarded with cum laude honours. Upon graduation, he kept developing research and moved to Barcelona for a pre-doctoral position at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He currently authors research on his topics of interest such as asset pricing, sovereign bond markets' microstructure, and historical banking crisis and bank failures.
