Over the past four years, Khoa Tran’s research has focused on how early-stage ventures can strategically engage with diverse ecosystem actors, such as accelerators and incubators, to overcome the liabilities of newness, drive innovation, and identify opportunities under uncertainty. In parallel, he also explores the emergence of impact investment practices, just energy transitions, and the evolution of climate tech ecosystems in emerging economies. At INSEAD, Khoa hopes to explore the evolution and role of the innovation ecosystem in creating and diffusing new (green/ deep) technologies. Before joining INSEAD, he held research affiliations with institutions such as NYU Stern in Abu Dhabi, Peking University, UNDP, and Stanford University. His work has been featured in media outlets including The National (UAE), VTV (Vietnam), and UNDP publications, and presented at international forums such as COP28.
