INSEAD welcomes its inaugural Master in Management cohort

97 students from 32 nationalities and 5 continents have started their MIM journey at the re-opened campus in Fontainebleau (France)

INSEAD, the Business School for the World, has officially started its first Master in Management (MIM) programme, warmly welcoming the inaugural batch of 97 young talented candidates from 32 nationalities and 5 continents to its campus in Fontainebleau (France).

Urs Peyer, Dean of Degree Programmes, says that, “We are impressed with the calibre and diversity of our first MIM cohort, and inspired by their dedication to making a positive impact on business and society.  Our students will get the big picture from this broad management degree as well as practical tools and techniques so they immediately create value for their employers and accelerate in their career paths. Students graduating from this accredited master’s degree will be prepared to tackle the complex challenges the world is facing with a sustainable and responsible approach. We wish our students every success as they begin their MIM journey with INSEAD.”

INSEAD announced the launch of its new MIM programme in 2019, combining innovative learning with problem-solving to prepare young graduates for a global career. The 14 to 16-month accelerated programme is designed to equip young graduates with a holistic set of skills to launch a successful career in any work environment. Unique to the programme is its diversity and the requirement to study across INSEAD campuses in France and Singapore (with optional field trips to the Middle East, the USA and China); enabling students to immerse in a truly global experience alongside international classmates and faculty.

Another key innovative component to the programme takes the form of Practicals; 2-week long intense experiential learning components putting the INSEAD MIM students’ classroom learnings to the test in actual challenges brought by companies.

Thibault Seguret, MIM Programme Director comments, “The engagement, open-mindedness, and entrepreneurial spirit of the MIM’21 class is humbling. Faculty report how meaningful and participative the initial class discussions have been, and how every single student contributes to discussions. This is quite an achievement when you consider the reference point for our faculty is MBA students who have on average five more years of work experience. I am astounded by the leadership and  initiative of the MIM’21 class in these very unique times. They are putting a capital I to MIM. ”

The MIM is one of the first programmes to welcome students into our re-opened Europe campus in Fontainebleau (France). The school has placed a lot of emphasis on being COVID-19-ready by implementing rigorous health and safety measures prior to re-opening. The Europe campus is providing on-site COVID-19 testing with slots available 3 days per week. All members of the INSEAD community on the campus take the test once a week and receive results within 24-48 hours. This measure is ensuring a safe on-campus experience for all of our students, faculty and staff.

“It is amazing to see the energy of the first MIM cohort together on campus. We are delivering a different experience due to the exceptional circumstances, but it is most definitely a unique INSEAD experience bringing remarkable young people together from all over the world to learn and shape their futures,  says Katy Montgomery, Associate Dean of Degree Programmes.

“As I was getting to know my peers, I was impressed to see that not a single participant has the same background as another.
