INSEAD, The Business School for the World, today enters a new chapter with Professor Francisco Veloso starting his mandate as Dean of INSEAD.
Commenting on his first day at INSEAD, Professor Veloso says: “It is a privilege for me to begin my journey as the new Dean at this outstanding institution which truly brings together people, cultures and ideas to develop responsible leaders. Throughout my career, I have deeply appreciated INSEAD's rigour and relevance in teaching and research, as well as the unrivalled diversity and entrepreneurial spirit, which have forged a global community who transform business and society. I am joining a school that already has an incredible legacy and I am confident that we will take it to even greater heights, continuing to extend our global reach and impact.”
Professor Veloso was appointed as INSEAD Dean in April 2023. He joins INSEAD from Imperial College Business School, where he served as Dean from 2017 to 2023. Previously, he was the Dean at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics in Portugal.
Originally from Portugal, Professor Veloso is a leading authority in entrepreneurship and innovation and his expertise is recognised by government and policy makers – he was an advisor to both the Portuguese Government and to European Commissioner Carlos Moedas on innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial development. He is also a trusted advisor and Board Member to several startups and established firms.
Professor Veloso succeeds Professor Ilian Mihov, who served as Dean of INSEAD for ten years. “I have no doubt that INSEAD has a bright future under Dean Francisco Veloso. And knowing the spirit of the INSEAD community, I am assured he will receive the same unwavering support they have shown me over the past decade,” says Professor Mihov.
