INSEAD launches new executive programmes for the Asian market

Business School for the World Expands Executive Education Offerings with the Introduction of Asia sections of its Global EMBA and Advanced Management Programmes

INSEAD, the leading international business school, today announced it is introducing new executive programmes for the Asian market on its Asia campus in Singapore. The school has added intakes for its Global EMBA (GEMBA) and Advanced Management Programme (AMP). The new programmes complement INSEAD’s existing Executive Education portfolio and provide enhanced opportunities both for executives in Asia and for those living elsewhere who wish to experience the Asian experience INSEAD offers at it Asia campus.

‘We are pleased to announce an expanded set of Executive Education offerings that will be available to leaders in Asia, including Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia,’ said Dipak C. Jain, Dean of INSEAD. ‘INSEAD consistently infuses new research and teaching methods in Asia from top faculty. It is our goal to help develop exceptional leaders who can deliver real value to their organisations and communities in one of the fastest-developing markets in the world.’

GEMBA comes to Asia

INSEAD will introduce a new Asia section to its Global EMBA programme this academic year, which will run over the course of 17 months with the majority of the coursework at the school’s Singapore campus. Half the programme will be delivered in modules of three days – essentially over a weekend - so that participants are required to only spend one day away from the office at a time. The Asia section of INSEAD’s GEMBA is designed to attract a diverse group of leaders from the region who will have the convenience of completing their EMBA in Asia with minimal time off from work. With the other half of the programme, participants will also have the opportunity to spend time on INSEAD’s Fontainebleau and Abu Dhabi campuses and benefit from a more diverse EMBA class.

‘INSEAD’s long-term presence in Singapore and the Asian market overall has allowed the school to continuously expand its reach in the region,’ said Ilian Mihov, Deputy Dean for Faculty and Research at INSEAD. ‘Our new offerings in EMBA and Advanced Management are designed to facilitate transformational change among our participants. In addition to strengthening their understanding of business fundamentals, we offer the space, time, tools and facilitators to help them reflect deeply and in a structured fashion upon how their judgment has operated in the past and changes they would like to make for the future. These programmes combine an accumulation of cutting-edge management knowledge and state-of-the-art tools for leadership development.’

Advanced Management Programme in Asia

In addition to the new GEMBA section, INSEAD will also launch its first intake of theAdvanced Management Programme (AMP) on its Singapore campus starting in March 2012. The Advanced Management Programme – the first INSEAD executive programme launched in 1968 – has been redesigned to help participants learn the process of decision making that fits their own context and environment. The programme is geared toward senior executives with an average of 12 years’ management experience, with at least five years in a general management position with cross-functional and P&L (profit and loss) responsibility.

INSEAD is further enhancing its Executive Education portfolio in the current academic year with the introduction of an Executive Masters in Clinical Approaches to Management from this month. The school is also partnering with the Sorbonne University Panthéon-Assas law school in France to introduce an LL.M. to the Asia campus.

Alvin Tan, Assistant Managing Director at the Singapore Economic Development Board, said, ‘We are delighted that INSEAD will be introducing the GEMBA and AMP in Singapore. There is a strong demand for leaders, as companies expand in Asia, to tap the growth opportunities here. In particular, talent who have a global mindset and an Asian perspective can help companies navigate and orchestrate a wide spectrum of activities across Asia. The expansion of INSEAD’s executive programmes at its Singapore campus will enhance the talent ecosystem here. This will provide companies with a greater ability and options to attract and develop talent for their operations in Asia, and globally, from Singapore.’

Asia Campus expansion

INSEAD recently embarked upon an expansion plan for its campus in Singapore with a new facility to support these expanded offerings and to meet the present requirement for space for more staff, faculty and students. The new building, behind the main building on INSEAD’s Ayer Rajah Avenue campus, will provide more room for courses geared toward high-level business leaders as demand rises for executive education offerings in the region.

INSEAD is one of the world’s largest providers of Executive Education, delivering cutting-edge programmes across the world. INSEAD provides innovative training methodologies and technologies of learning situations in real-time through two types of programmes: Company-Specific and Open-enrolment.
