INSEAD holds its first women and leadership seminar

at the school’s new centre in Abu Dhabi on 27 November 2007

INSEAD is holding the Women and Leadership seminar, the first in a series of events as part of the INSEAD Abu Dhabi Centre’s important initiative in this area. The seminar, “Making the Leadership Transition” will be led by INSEAD’s Chaired Professor, Herminia Ibarra.

The INSEAD Centre for Executive Education and Research in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated on 12 September, under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

INSEAD will hold workshops, seminars and programmes on the subject of women and leadership in the Middle East. The upcoming seminar will engage participants in discussions on the particular challenges faced by women executives in the region. INSEAD will also conduct quantitative and qualitative research on leadership styles in the Middle East.

Professor Ibarra is an expert on professional and leadership development. Her book Working Identity: Unconventional Strategies for Reinventing Your Career (Harvard Business School Press, 2003) documents how people reinvent themselves at work.

Numerous articles by Professor Ibarra on innovation, networking, career development, women's careers and professional identity are published in leading journals including the Harvard Business Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, and Organization Science. Her research has been profiled in a wide range of media including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Economist and Fast Company.
