Leading International Business School and Premier Chinese School of Management Partner to Provide a Unique Programme for Transcultural Executives
INSEAD and the School of Economics and Management (SEM), Tsinghua University China, have announced an agreement to create the Tsinghua-INSEAD Dual Degree Executive MBA (EMBA). The official signing ceremony took place on the Tsinghua campus in Beijing on Saturday 22 April. The EMBA programme constituency will be a diverse pool of executives, with half of the enrollees hailing from mainland China and the other half comprised of a varied group of international participants. EMBA courses will be taught by an equal mixture of INSEAD and Tsinghua SEM faculty, further enriching the diversity of the programme.
“The programme offering is particularly topical with an emerging Chinese market taking centre stage in the world business landscape,” said Professor Gabriel Hawawini, INSEAD Dean. “As Chinese companies seek to grow internationally, they will need leaders with an understanding of the marketplace outside the nation’s borders. Conversely, the growing interest of multinational corporations in the Chinese market and consumer base will result in demand for leaders with a firm grasp of the nuances and practices specific to Chinese businesses. We are pleased to introduce this programme for international executives. This partnership with Tsinghua extends our mission as a school – to develop the next generation of transcultural executives, fluent in all aspects of the global marketplace.”
The Tsinghua-INSEAD Dual Degree will provide a forum wherein Chinese nationals and international executives can exchange ideas and build lasting business networks.
The programme also provides lifelong learning access to the two schools’ broader alumni networks.
“We work in a new era, characterised by accelerated globalisation and rapid technological development,” said Professor Jiankun He, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Dean of the School of Economics and Management. “Tsinghua’s mission is to emerge in the dynamic Chinese market as an institution providing leaders with the insight into worldwide business practices needed to succeed in this new, international marketplace. Our academic strength and focus on innovation, technological advancement and entrepreneurship will foster new ideas for the EMBA participants of this programme.”
The joint programme will combine the analytical rigour of the MBA with the managerial relevance of executive education. It will focus on developing leadership skills, building global mindsets and honing managerial practices.
Courses will be run at Tsinghua University in Beijing and the INSEAD Asia campus in Singapore. One of the sessions will also take place at INSEAD’s Europe campus near Paris. The programme, divided into four to six day periods, will run for 18 months with the first participants enrolling for courses beginning in June 2007. Taught in English, it will target highly motivated, internationally-minded managers with substantial business experience. “Our dual EMBA degree with Tsinghua University in China reflects our continued commitment to Asia and provides another platform for INSEAD to contribute to the international dialogue as the business school for the world.” said Professor Hellmut Schütte, Dean of INSEAD's Asia campus.
“Our collaboration will set the foundation for a dynamic exchange between the faculty and students of both institutions,” said Professor Li Liao, Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. “Tsinghua’s emergence as a hotbed for young Chinese entrepreneurs and INSEAD’s longstanding reputation for developing international executives will create a partnership that provides programme participants with a unique perspective on the global marketplace.”
