Changing the Climate in the Boardroom
Changing the Climate in the Boardroom
Overview
Changing the Climate in the Boardroom
Organised by the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre (ICGC), in collaboration with the Heidrick & Struggles and Boards Impact Forum
Climate change is one of the greatest existential threats to mankind. There can be no corporate conversation about the future without moving climate change up the agenda. Boards of directors are in the hot seat to address and lead the climate change agenda at both the board and organisational level.
Organised by the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre, together with Heidrick & Struggles, and Boards Impact Forum, the Webinar and Digital Dialogue will dive in to the latest findings of a joint research study conducted by INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre and Heidrick & Struggles which examines how board directors are addressing decarbonization, and to what extent climate change priorities are integrated into boards’ oversight responsibilities.
The findings reveal a clear disconnect between what board members say about the importance of climate change to their companies and that which translate into action. This can likely be explained by knowledge and experience gaps on today’s boards – and the report pointed to an interesting talent paradox: the best leaders on climate change often do not have board experience, and those with skills to navigate board dynamics often lack true understanding of climate change.
Join us for an interactive exchange, as we showcase the research highlights presented by Ron Soonieus, Director in Residence with INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre and Alice Breeden, Partner of Heidrick & Struggles' London office, followed by a stimulating panel discussion with distinguished guest panellists, Birger Steen MBA'94D, Non-Executive Director of Nordea and PragmatIC Semiconductor, Chair of Nordic Semiconductor, Myneva Group and Pagero, Partner of Summa Equity and Pia Heidenmark Cook, Non-Executive Director at Origin Materials, MAX Burgers, Board Member Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, Senior Advisor at IKEA/Ingka Group, former Sustainability Director of IKEA/Ingka Group and graduate of INSEAD International Directors Programme (IDP) who will share how board directors can pave the way in leading the organization toward climate resilient future.
We are very thankful to Heidrick & Struggles and Boards Impact Forum for sponsoring the event and for the collaboration on this research study with Heidrick & Struggles.
