One million Single Use Plastic Water Bottles (SUPWBs) are sold every minute – by 2020 half a trillion bottles will be sold annually. In 2016, fewer than half were recycled. As already 150 million tonnes of plastic float in our seas, at the current rate there will be more plastic than fish there by 2050.
