Yossi Matias is VP, Google & GM, Google Research. For the past two decades, Yossi has been a key figure in Google’s executive technology leadership. Today, under his leadership, global teams drive breakthrough research across broad domains driving impact on products, science and society.
Previously, Yossi was on Google Search leadership, leading products and technologies such as Autocomplete and Trends and pioneered Conversational AI innovations. He was the founding lead of Google center in Israel, building and growing it to 2500-strong staff. Yossi also founded and spearheaded Google’s AI for Social Good, Crisis Response, Google for Startups Accelerator, STEM and AI literacy programs and seeding Google Arts & Culture.
A Gödel Prize recipient, Yossi published 200+ papers and 80+ patents. He was a faculty member at Tel Aviv University, visiting professor at Stanford and Research Scientist at Bell Labs. He is an ACM Fellow and received the ACM Kanellakis Theory and Practice Award for seminal work laying the foundations for big data analytics.
