Biography

Penelope Kenny is an experienced non-executive, senior independent director (SID) and Chartered Accountant with a track record as an effective non-executive Director and Chair of Audit and Risk Committees. She has held an extensive range of key positions, in varied corporate instruments including plcs, dacs, private companies and state bodies. She was Board member and Chair of the Audit and Risk committee for the largest capital project in the State and twice re-appointed in that role. She was CFO and Area Sales manager of the leasing arm of Bank of Ireland plc. Consistent with her tech experience, Penelope is a Senior Independent director of Kroo Ltd, a UK fintech bank, she is Chair of Audit committee and member of the Risk committee, and previous Chair of RemCo at Kroo, she has been approved by the Bank of England for roles SMF14 and 11 and has been reappointed in that role in 2024. She is also a Chartered Banker.
 
She has direct experience of takeovers and mergers, and she chairs the Investor Relations committee at Kroo.  She is currently on the advisory board of NeoVision, a French company specialising in corporate M&A, technology due diligence and advisory services. 

In 2021 she achieved the international certificate in corporate governance from INSEAD International Directors Program (IDP), France, and the Leading from the Chair certificate (2023). INSEAD is No.1 FT- Global MBA Ranking. 

She is a member of the Institute of Directors and INSEAD ambassador for the International Directors Network. She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Policy from University College Dublin in December 2014 her book on Corporate Governance was published by the Chartered Accountants Ireland. She has a keen interest in visual arts and has been a Director of the Irish Museum of Modern art and is currently a Director of the Crawford Gallery Cork.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Penelope was a Council member of the Institute - the governing and strategy body for all Irish Chartered accountants. She has been Chair of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants, a body of over 6000 members; Ms. Kenny has direct experience in financial services, property, construction, accounting, banking, and management consulting.
