Biography
Penelope Kenny is an experienced non-executive, senior independent director (SID) and Chartered Accountant with a track record as an effective non-executive Director and chair of Audit and Risk Committees. She has held an extensive range of key positions in varied corporate instruments including plcs, dacs, private companies and state bodies. Penelope is a Senior Independent director of Kroo Ltd (a fintech bank), she is Chair of Audit committee and member of the Risk committee at Kroo, she has been approved by the Bank of England for that role. She consults in Sustainability and CSRD disclosures through Centigo a Swedish consulting group. She has led compliance work on the implementation of the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies 2016, both as a consultant to a state body and as chair of Audit and Risk committees. In 2021 she achieved the international certificate in corporate governance from INSEAD International Directorship Program (IDP), France, and the Leading from the Chair certificate (2023). INSEAD is No.1 FT- Global MBA Ranking.
She is a member of the Institute of Directors and an affiliate of the Irish Chartered Secretaries Association.
She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Policy from University College Dublin in December 2014 her book on Corporate Governance was published by the Chartered Accountants Ireland. She has a keen interest in visual arts and has been a Director of the Irish Museum of Modern art and is currently a Director of the Crawford Gallery Cork.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, Penelope was a Council member of the Institute - the governing and strategy body for all Irish Chartered accountants. She has been chairman of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants, a body of over 6000 members; Ms. Kenny has direct experience in financial services, property, construction, accounting, banking, and management consulting.
She has lectured on Corporate governance to Masters degree students in UCD and presents to Chartered Accountants Ireland Continuing Professional Development programs (CPD), she has also been visiting lecturer to the DCU business Masters program.
