While working in international hospitality with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and InterContinental Hotels Group, Nakul Sharma noticed a growing number of travellers preferred unique home-rental experiences over traditional hotels. Seeing an opportunity, in 2014 Nakul launched Hostmaker, a technology-driven rental management company that brings a premium-hotel touch to the home-sharing industry. With more than 2,000 properties across six countries, the London-based start-up has hosted more than 325,000 guests and generated more than £60 million in earnings for homeowners.
Hostmaker was named the third-fastest-growing company in the UK by Deloitte's Tech Fast 50 Awards in 2018. Sharma holds a degree in marketing from the National University of Ireland and a degree in hotel management from the Shannon College of Hotel Management.
