Biography

Mr. Karim El-Jisr has 20 years of experience in resource management, climate change, and urban planning. He visited The Sustainable City in January 2014, during the initial construction phase, and decided to become an active member of the city. He is currently establishing and leading the SEE NEXUS Institute – a global platform for sustainability in the built environment.

The Institute manages a multi-million Sustainability Research and Training Program with the University of California, Davis, and half a dozen universities in the Arab region; implements more than a dozen pilot projects in The Sustainable City related to autonomous driving, vertical farming, renewable energy, and thermodynamics; and deploys a modular training program for professionals in the built environment.

Karim holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Engineering in Agriculture, and a Master’s of Science in Ecosystem Management from the American University of Beirut. He also holds a course certificate in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). A seasoned speaker at international venues, Karim is fluent in Arabic, English, French, and Danish.
