Biography

Ooi Huey Tyng is a transformative leader and accomplished business builder with over 30 years of expertise in banking, fintech, and payments technology.

As an independent director, she serves on multiple boards spanning listed, regulated, and educational organizations. She chairs the Risk Management Committee at AIG Asia Pacific Insurance and serves on the Audit, Transformation, and Nominating & Remuneration Committees at Maxis Bhd. In addition, she holds board roles at Raffles Institution, Singapore Institute of Management, and Food from the Heart, and she is also a Governing Council Member of Singapore Institute of Directors.

Among her landmark achievements, Tyng became the first Singaporean woman to lead Visa Singapore and Brunei, where she drove digital payment innovations and helped shape the region’s fintech ecosystem. She was also appointed to Singapore’s Subcommittee on the Future Economy in 2016, chaired by Minister Chan Chun Sing.

Another key milestone was her role as Regional MD for Grab Financial Group, where she spearheaded its Southeast Asia expansion and democratized digital payments for millions. During her tenure, she also held board appointments on multiple GrabPay and GrabInsure joint ventures in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Her extensive leadership portfolio also includes senior roles at Citibank, Development Bank of Singapore (DBS), United Overseas Bank (UOB), General Motors, Otis Elevator, and Procter & Gamble. 

Tyng holds a Master of Science in Finance from Purdue University, USA, and is a Certified Public Accountant in both Singapore and the UK. She is also an INSEAD alumna, having completed the Advanced Management Program and the International Directors Program, and has been appointed as the Singapore Ambassador of the INSEAD International Directors Network.
