Biography

Stephen Marchisio took up his post as French Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore on January 17, 2025.

He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées (ENSTA) in Brittany, M. Marchisio began his career with the French Ministry of Defense at the Direction Générale de l’Armement as a technical expert, then architect in charge of contractual and technical management of aeronautical programs (1999-2007), then as chief of staff to the director of international development (2007-2010).

In 2010, he joined the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as head of the “defense industries and technologies” office within the General Directorate for Globalization. In 2013, he was appointed Head of the Sub-Directorate for Support to Strategic Sectors, then in 2016, Deputy Director of the Continental Europe Directorate.

In May 2017, he was appointed technical advisor for strategic affairs in the Prime Minister’s office. In November 2020, he became Deputy Director of the Asia and Oceania Division of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In September 2023, Stephen Marchisio was appointed Diplomatic Adviser (Head of Pole) to the Prime Minister’s Office and then, from January 2024, to the Prime Minister’s Office.

In his new role, Ambassador Marchisio has overseen the upgrading of bilateral relations between France and Singapore, the recent State Visit of President Macron, and the culmination of the Singapore-France Joint Year of Sustainability
