Henkel

Henkel with 22 billion euros in sales operates globally with a well-balanced and diversified portfolio in both industrial and consumer businesses. The DAX-40 company has its headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany.

As reflected in our corporate values, we are committed to leadership in sustainability. As leaders, we aim to pioneer new solutions for sustainable development while continuing to shape our business responsibly and increasing our economic success.

The business unit Adhesive Technologies is the global leader in the market of adhesives, sealants and functional coatings. In one of multiple business areas, it supplies the construction industry with adhesives for mass timber production.

This business area serves as one outstanding example how many small steps in innovation can support a huge leap in sustainability.  The growth of (mass) timber construction is the biggest revolution in the construction industry – allowing a significant reduction of the industry’s carbon footprint by replacing concrete and steel.  This is only possible thanks to high-performance adhesives that laminate wood into mass timber. Henkel gave the industry a boost with the introduction of the first formaldehyde-free adhesives for mass timber enabling the boom of the past 10 years. Now we’re taking the next step by being the first company to market bio-based mass-timber adhesives that move sustainability in timber construction to the next level.  Bio-based raw materials avoid the use of fossil resources and reduce the carbon footprint of the adhesives drastically. An already sustainable industry can thus make even further steps to a better future.
