Chinta Bhagat has worked in senior leadership roles in investing, consulting and operating settings for over three decades, with a significant portion of his time spent in the healthcare and wellness sectors. He now operates through Aries Holdings, an independent investment holding company, focused primarily on the Indian and U.S. markets.
During his time as a healthcare investor, he has served on the boards of some of the most consequential healthcare businesses in Asia and the U.S., including IHH Healthcare, Fortis Healthcare, DaVita Asia, Thorne Healthtech, Qure.AI, Acibadem Healthcare, Prince Court Medical, and more.
Till recently, he was head of Asia at L Catterton, the world’s largest consumer-focused private equity firm, minority-owned by LVMH, which manages over $30 billion in equity capital across multiple fund platforms. He led the transformation and integration of the Asian franchise into the global firm, and also led transactions worth over $2 billion, including industry-leading deals in consumer healthcare in Asia and the U.S.
From mid 2015-mid 2019, he was co-head of global private markets at Khazanah Nasional, overseeing a total of approximately $5 billion, and led several marquee transactions across Asia and the U.S.
From 2001-2014, Chinta was in various positions at McKinsey & Company, including six years as the Managing Partner of the Singapore office. He led the firm’s work with Principal Investors (sovereign wealth funds, private equity, and family offices) on a range of topics, from developing strategies, executing transactions, managing risk, and implementing board governance initiatives.
From 1995-1999, Chinta was CEO of his family owned engineering and construction company, developing and commercialising technology to build prefabricated steel bridges in India, Asia and the U.S.
He has an MBA from INSEAD, and an undergraduate degree in architecture.
