Professors W. Chan Kim & Renée Mauborgne, Pierre Chandon, and Ben M Bensaou are placed within the Top 40 bestselling authors
INSEAD, one of the world's leading and largest graduate business schools, today announced that four faculty members are ranked in The Case Centre’s top 40 bestselling authors for the academic year 2016/2017. The Case Centre holds the world’s largest and most diverse collection of management cases and teaching materials.
The top 40 case writers are those with the highest number of cases sold during the 2016/2017 academic year. They are sourced from a list of over 8,000 authors who are currently registered with the Case Centre. This ranking is yet another indication of the relevance and calibre of INSEAD’s thought leadership and global research.
Tim Van Zandt, Dean of Faculty and Research and the Schroders Chaired Professor of European Competitiveness and Reform, comments, “Our faculty writes cases to apply their academic insight to real events — challenges and solutions — in business, bringing rigour and relevance into the classroom. They have a long history of writing best-selling and award-winning cases.”
Ziv Carmon, Dean of Research and Professor of Marketing adds, “Congratulations to Chan, Renée, Pierre, and Ben as well as to the staff members who supported them. The consistent popularity of INSEAD cases builds on the thought leadership of our faculty as well as on the extraordinary support provided by INSEAD staff members who help write, shape, promote and distribute our cases.”

W. Chan Kim, Professor of Strategy and International Management, and Renée Mauborgne, Affiliate Professor of Strategy, state, "We are thrilled to be recognised in the top ten bestselling case writers in the world by The Case Centre. With the recent release of three exciting new cases - on Amazon's successes and failures, on Marvel's blue ocean shift that led to one of the greatest turnarounds in recent corporate history, and on how Andre Rieu created a blue ocean in the declining orchestra industry - we are excited to continue on this journey with our outstanding team of Institute Executive Fellows and Researchers at the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute. This award is as much theirs as ours."
Pierre Chandon, Professor of Marketing says, “I am honoured to be again among the top 10 bestselling case writers. At INSEAD, we have a tradition of excellence and innovation in case writing. Like most INSEAD cases, mine find novel insights from non-US companies and come with their own website, providing instructors with exclusive slide decks and videos of classroom case discussion. My forthcoming case, written with Joerg Niessing is “Who’s #1: INSEAD, Harvard, Wharton, LBS?” which makes marketing metrics exciting to B-School students by drawing on an exclusive survey that we conducted among GMAT takers.”
Ben M. Bensaou, Professor of Technology Management and Asian Business and Comparative Management comments: “I am delighted to be ranked among the best-selling case authors. Our prize winning case The Evolution of the Circus Industry (A) is the exciting first part of a two-case series. We are continuing with market-leading research for our work on part B and look forward to engaging our students with this.”
INSEAD boasts an impressive track record of success with the case method and has received several awards since the inception of The Case Centre Awards in 1991.
