Declan Fitzsimons
Senior Affiliated Professor of Organisational Behaviour
Declan Fitzsimons is Senior Affiliated Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD. He holds a PhD from the school of Management at Cranfield University, UK. His research focus is on post-heroic leadership models such as shared leadership, senior teams, leading in complex environments unconscious processes in groups and organisations, experiential and action learning, and organisational change.
Declan Fitzsimons is co-directing Developing Emerging Leaders.
From the mid-90s, Declan worked extensively with several telecommunications joint ventures in Eastern Europe, Russia and Kazakhstan, developing expertise in the design and implementation of organisational development projects that integrate leadership development initiatives with corporate strategy. These programmes took place within complex stakeholder environments involving the state, corporate foreign investors, and international regulatory institutes, as well as within a broader context of rapidly changing social and economic conditions in the post-Soviet era. He currently consults to corporations from a wide range of sectors including energy, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, banking, paper, and precision engineering. In addition, he has contributed to open and in-company Leadership Development programmes including the full time MBA programmes at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, and at IMD in Switzerland.
After graduating in Economics from Birmingham University and then taking a Diploma in Education, Declan worked in Japan for three years before returning to the UK to train in psychotherapy at the London Gestalt Centre. He later earned a Masters in Management Development at Lancaster University (UK) and a Masters in Advanced Organisational Consulting jointly offered by the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations and City University in London. He currently lives in London.

Professor of Organisational Behaviour
Mark Mortensen the Associate Dean for the Middle East Campus and Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD Mark is an expert in organizational collaboration and design, with a focus on hybrid, virtual, and globally distributed work. Recently he has focused on the changing nature of the employee value proposition and its impact on employee attraction, retention, and engagement.
Mark uses data-driven scientific research to help executives and organizations understand the complex dynamics of organizations as social systems. He uses scientific methods to distil that complexity into concrete actionable insights and tools that create value. He applies this approach by consulting globally on the changing nature of work, organizational culture, team dynamics, global collaboration, power and social networks, and organizational change.
Mark publishes regularly in practitioner outlets like Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, and IESE Insights as well as popular press outlets both in print and online. His scholarly work has been published in top-tier academic publications, and his contributions have been recognized through academic awards as well as leadership and editorial board positions.
Prior to joining INSEAD, Professor Mortensen was on the faculty of the MIT-Sloan School of Management, and before that, the Desautels School of Management at McGill University. Professor Mortensen holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, and an MS from Stanford University and a BA from Colby College, both in Computer Science.
