Biography

Martina Zagaria joined INSEAD as a Research Assistant in September 2025. She earned an MSc in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Markets and Institutions from the University of Bologna, both with highest honors.

Before joining INSEAD, Martina worked as a Research Assistant at Bocconi University on projects in development economics and the political economy of migration. She is also an associate of Tortuga, an Italian think-tank of young researchers in economics and social sciences, where she contributes to various Italian policy-oriented issues.

At INSEAD, Martina is currently working with Professor Alexandra Roulet on a project which aims to predict the risk of transition from unemployment benefits to welfare dependency and to implement a randomized controlled trial with France Travail. Her research interests include labor economics, public policy evaluation, political economics and inequality.
