Biography

BSc Economics (Mathematics Track), Beijing Jiaotong University
MSc, Northwestern University
MSc, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Fan holds dual master's degrees from Northwestern University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he gained professional experience as an AI Scientist at Xiamen C&D Corporation, where he applied machine learning and economic reasoning to business decision-making, and at PwC, where he was involved in data-driven advisory projects. These industry experiences deepened his understanding of how organisations adopt and interact with intelligent systems, and motivated his turn toward academic research. Prior to joining INSEAD, Fan served as a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, where he contributed to academic projects examining firm behaviour and the economic implications of emerging technologies. His doctoral research at INSEAD will focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and decision science, investigating how AI systems shape human judgment, strategic choice, and organisational outcomes.
