Biography

David Zavala's research examines how firms engage with nonmarket stakeholders. Specifically, he studies how external actors shape firm behavior and how firms, in turn, strategically influence their regulatory environments.
Before entering academia, David spent four years working across the public and private sectors. His public sector experience spans international and national institutions, including the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in New York and the Department for Science, Technology, and Telecommunications in Costa Rica. In the private sector, he collaborated with firms in the cybersecurity industry and served as a researcher at INCAE Business School. He holds a master's degree in management from Sciences Po, where he was a recipient of the Émile Boutmy Excellence Scholarship.
