Solutions designed to deliver critical skills to better adapt to strategic business challenges
INSEAD, the world’s leading business school, today announced the launch of a new digital educational offering: The INSEAD Customised Online Solution. The web and mobile based solution is designed to deliver at scale the critical skills that organisations need in order to adapt to the strategic challenges they face. The new offering responds to the need to adapt corporate training to the increasing pace of change that is shaking business and society today.
Early clients include Accenture and Microsoft. Starting with an original pilot with Microsoft in October 2014, thousands of employees are now benefiting from the course’s unique, targeted blend of theory and practice. By carefully customising a high-quality online experience to the company context, employee engagement has been outstanding and completion rates in excess of 80%. With its speed and scale of impact, the new offering promises to disrupt traditional corporate training for middle managers and knowledge workers.
The INSEAD Customised Online Solution is built around high-quality video lectures from the school’s thought leaders. The lectures are filmed specifically for each company, with a studio audience drawn from the target population for the course. In addition to discussion forums and quizzes, learners are guided to immediately apply the knowledge back to their corporate context.
“INSEAD online courses are able to deliver the theory plus the practical application that helps our employees to expand their mindset, change their behavior, and quickly adapt to fundamental shifts in our markets,” said Chris Pirie, General Manager of Field Readiness and Learning at Microsoft. “We’re pleased to offer INSEAD courses as one of the many ways we invest in our employees’ continuing education.”
For more than a half century, INSEAD has been a pioneer in management education. It is the original and still leading international business school, with campuses in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The school created the intensive one-year MBA programme and introduced simulations to management pedagogy. Of particular relevance, INSEAD also was one of the early movers in executive education with the first customised corporate programmes. Today, it remains a market leader in these important arenas.
“Customised online is a Blue Ocean opportunity for us,” according to Peter Zemsky, the Deputy Dean and Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation referencing the school’s renowned Blue Ocean Strategy model and Institute. “Currently, top-tier business schools are able to address at most 5% of corporate training needs, despite the fact that our faculty have critical expertise that would help employees and organisation stay relevant in fast changing markets. Online allows us to greatly increase access. High-quality and customisation allow us to assure the engagement necessary for effective learning.”
Bruno Berthon, Managing Director, Accenture Strategy concurs. “The INSEAD-Accenture Strategy programme is one of the first developed at this scale and speed,” he says. “It combines top business education with the agility that technology enables, and we are incorporating it into the Accenture Strategy learning experience as a common platform for all our consultants.”
Above and beyond the launch of INSEAD Customised Online Solutions, the school remains committed to its traditional in person executive education offering. “We see this as a great complement to the high-level in person programmes we are famous for,” says Mark Roberts the Associate Dean for Executive Education. “Our customised online solution will allow senior managers and HR leaders to cascade critical knowledge from our in person programmes within their organisations and further support their corporate transformations.”
INSEAD Dean Ilian Mihov summarises: “We are tremendously excited about the potential of customised online education. I am often asked where INSEAD’s next campus will be located. I am increasingly convinced that our next campus is digital.”
