To achieve this outstanding result, INSEAD scored very high across several of the FT ranking categories, including alumni career progress, international diversity and idea generation.
In 2016, INSEAD became the first school with a one-year MBA programme to take the #1 spot in the history of the FT rankings. INSEAD is one of only five schools to top the Financial Times MBA rankings. We share this distinction with Harvard, Stanford, Wharton and London Business School.

“We are honoured that our MBA programme ranks #1 again this year,” said INSEAD Dean Ilian Mihov, “This recognition is a testimony to the efforts and accomplishments of our entire INSEAD community: our successful alumni, our world-class faculty and exceptional staff who deliver a transformational MBA experience for all students. We are grateful to our dedicated alumni, donors and friends around the world, whose contributions and expertise take our school to even greater heights.”

Dean Mihov added, “We are especially proud of our alumni, a diverse group of value-driven business leaders and entrepreneurs who make a difference and change the world every day.” INSEAD has an extensive and influential global alumni network with more than 52,000 alumni representing 156 nationalities from 169 countries.

“We are humbled to be recognised as the leading MBA programme in the world for the second consecutive year,” said Urs Peyer, INSEAD Dean of Degree Programmes. “Bringing together talented people from all over the world creates a unique learning and networking environment. It is inspiring to see that the success of our alumni and impact of our research led to this outstanding result.”

In this complex and constantly changing world, INSEAD brings to the classroom not only analytical skills but new approaches to global challenges. This year, INSEAD will roll out a new MBA curriculum that offers students a more personalised learning journey including a leading-edge digital start and a culminating capstone project.

In addition to INSEAD’s #1 MBA position, our Global EMBA is also the highest single-school programme in the “FT EMBA ranking 2016”. INSEAD is the only school in the world to have two EMBA programmes ranked in the top five.
These achievements add to the list of accolades that INSEAD has gathered, including being recognised by Forbes as “the highest return on investment” MBA programme in the world.
Known globally as a prominent ranking of business schools, the Financial Times ranking methodology is based on several parameters including:

  • Weighted salary: salary of alumni 3 years after graduation.
  • Salary increase: salary increase achieved by alumni after 3 years.
  • Value for money: calculated using the salary earned by alumni, course length, fees and other costs, including the opportunity costs of not working for the duration of the course.
  • Research rank: number of articles published by the school's faculty in selected academic journals.
  • Alumni recommend rank: calculated according to where alumni of all top MBA programmes would look to recruit MBA graduates.
