Thank you for your interest in INSEAD. We would be pleased to address any enquiry you might have regarding the MBA programme. Before writing to us, please visit our FAQ section which provides responses to many common questions. If you still have questions, please fill in the form below, and a member of our team will respond to you shortly.
Admissions criteria & General requirements
The four admissions requirements that are carefully weighted and considered for the entire applicant pool are academic excellence, professional experience, ability to contribute to the INSEAD experience and international outlook. For more information on admissions requirements, I recommend that you read in detail on our homepage here.
Minimum / maximum years of work experience to get admitted
Work experience is a requirement for admission and our MBA students usually have on average 6 years of work experience. The minimum work experience required is at least 2 years of full-time postgraduate experience. Internships/Trainings/Articleship/Residency are valued, but do not count towards our requirement for full-time postgraduate experience. Please visit this link to learn more.
GMAT
The GMAT score is a mandatory admissions criteria, but there is no minimum required score. However, we strongly encourage candidates to target the 70th – 75th percentile or above for both the verbal and quantitative parts of the test. We have found through past experience that students with a relatively low score or an imbalance in these two percentiles have had difficulties following our MBA Programme. For your reference, 80% of students of the 2016 classes have a GMAT between 660 and 750 and the average score was 700.
The GMAT not the only one that our admissions team will focus on, and the other aspects of an application that our Admission team also places equal emphasis are:
- International Outlook
- Leadership Potential
- Ability to contribute to INSEAD learning experience

Scholarships
Our students usually use a combination of financing means, such as loans, personal savings and scholarships to finance their MBA. You may like to know that MBA candidates can only apply to our scholarships once they have been admitted to the programme or have been shortlisted for an interview. We have more than 50 different scholarships that are offered to all eligible and admitted MBA students, all with differing eligibility criteria. Here is the link to our list of scholarships available for your reference. You can also look at the funding by country page. To access the Scholarship Application Guide, please go to this link.
