The Economics and Political Science Department at INSEAD is looking for a full-time Pre-Doctoral Researcher to work as a Research Associate on INSEAD’s Fontainebleau (France) campus. The main task is to assist Professors Alexandra Roulet and Maria Guadalupe, within the Economics faculty in conducting research. The ideal candidate will have a robust Economics background in applied microeconomics, preferably in labour economics. The position requires an understanding of the French labour market and policies, fluency in French and great attention to detail. The candidate will provide support to the professors in running a large Randomized Control Trial with French Public Employment Service (Pôle Emploi) and destined to boost the soft skills of unemployed people. Experience with conducting field experiments would therefore be an advantage.

The position is ideal for a recent university or Masters graduate looking to develop their research skills in economics  in view of applying for a PhD program.  It will provide the candidate with great preparation for PhD programme entry by training the applicant in doing research, giving her/him access to some PhD training and developing a relationship with potential letter writers. Our recent pre-doc researchers have been admitted to PhDs at Kellogg School of Management, INSEAD, Sciences Po, LSE, Toulouse School of Economics, Stockholm School of Economics, etc.

The position is for one year, with a possibility of renewal after evaluation at the end of the year. The position can also start part time.

The candidate also needs to already have authorization to work in France.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in economics, statistics and mathematics are preferred. 
  • Fluency in written and oral French and English is required. Other languages are a plus.
  • Previous research experience, particularly labour economics, is a strong plus. 
  • Proficiency in Statistical analysis and programming packages (e.g. R, Python, Stata, etc.).
  • Excellent academic record and work ethic required. 
  • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills are required. 
  • Enthusiasm for research required. 


Responsibilities

The Research Associate assists business school faculty, does field work, analyzes data, conducts research, coordinates information management, develops teaching materials, and works on special projects for INSEAD faculty.
