Are you an outstanding Master/Bachelor level student? Are you interested in exploring a research-oriented career? Do R, Python and other relevant research software hold no secrets for you? Are you considering applying for a PhD position? You may be the right match for one of our research positions.

We are looking for full-time pre-doctoral students to work as a Research Associate. This position is ideal for recent Master’s graduates looking to develop their research skills, with a view of applying to a PhD program. We are particularly interested in candidates that possess a strong technical background, with demonstrated expertise in handling data and knowledge in at least some of the following disciplines: econometrics, statistics, decision science, machine learning/AI, mathematical optimization, operations research. The Research Associate core mission is to assist the School’s TOM faculty in conducting research.

The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the first year upon evaluation. It is a full-time position.

TASKS:

  • Assist with quantitative research projects.
  • Conduct academic literature search and review.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data using software packages such as R, and Python.
  • Design and conduct experiments.
  • Perform causal inference for policy impact evaluations
  • Conduct statistical data analysis, estimate (statistical, econometric, and machine learning) models, and assist with the interpretation, write-up, and dissemination of findings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Economics/Behavioral Economics, Operations Management, Operations Research, Decision Science, or Computer Science. Prior knowledge of Econometrics/Statistics is preferred.
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Excellent programming skills that can be applied in software packages such as R, Python, SPSS, etc. Proficiency in R is preferred.
  • Previous research experience and knowledge of econometrics/Statistics are strong pluses.
  • Excellent academic record and work ethic are required.
  • Strong interest in conducting empirical research in management, statistics, and economics.
  • Clear ambition to pursue a PhD in the future.
