We are looking for a full-time pre-doctoral student to work as a Research Associate on INSEAD’s France campus. This position is ideal for recent Master’s graduates looking to develop their research skills, with a view of applying to a PhD program. We are looking for someone who is good at managing data and in particular using software packages such as Stata, SAS, Python, and R. Ideally, they would also have experience working in social sciences research projects. The Research Associate core mission is to assist the school’s Accounting faculty in conducting research.
The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the first year upon evaluation. It is a full-time position.
TASKS:
Assist with quantitative research projects in the area of accounting and financial reporting, management accounting, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting.
Brainstorm about potential research questions.
Extract data from conventional databases (e.g., CRSP, Compustat, I/B/E/S, Worldscope, Datastream, Execucomp, etc.) or hand-collect and clean data from company documents for analysis.
Data management and programming using software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, and Python. Proficiency in Stata and SAS is preferred.
Conduct statistical data analysis and assist with the interpretation, write up and dissemination of findings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management, Statistics, or Computer Science. Prior knowledge of accounting and finance is preferred.
Fluency in written and oral English.
Excellent programming skills that can be applied in software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python. Proficiency in Stata and SAS is preferred.
Previous research experience and knowledge of econometrics is a strong plus.
Excellent academic record and work ethic are required.
Strong interest in conducting empirical research in accounting, finance, or economics.
Clear ambition to pursue a PhD in the future.
