We are pleased to announce an Online Pre-Doctoral Camp on using AI for Research in Organisational Science, from 15 May to 15 June 2026. The PhD in Management Programme will host this online summer camp.

About the Camp

Course Objectives: This is a pre-doctoral-level online course that will cover the latest research at the frontiers of AI applications for research on organisations. 

Please note that this course is not about studying AI as a phenomenon, but rather about the use of AI as a research tool. 

Dates: Fridays, May 15*, 22 and 29; June 5 and 12; Mondays, June 8 and 15*, 2026 

*May 15, 2026 - Kick-off; June 15, 2026 - Finale

Duration of classes: 3 hours

Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm CEST (set to afternoons CEST, to allow EMEA, East Coast, USA and Asia attendees to participate)

Who should attend: This course will be of particular interest to individuals exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies in organisational research, in the areas of Strategy, Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Theory, and Entrepreneurship. 

This is open to the following, regardless of background/subject area:

  1. Predoctoral students
  2. Researchers (RAs/research fellows without PhDs or not currently enrolled in a PhD Programme), and
  3. Students applying for their PhDs during this period for the Fall 2026 admissions. 

*All must be in good standing 

Key Topics covered:

  • The different types of AI, such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Generative AI, and their potential applications in research on organisations.
  • Applications of AI tools and techniques to key aspects of the research process: induction, abduction, deduction and testing.
  • The benefits and challenges of using AI in research, including understanding the difference between ethical and unethical use of AI.

Note that this course is not about studying AI as a phenomenon, but rather about the use of AI as a research tool.

Application Deadline: Applications should be submitted by Sunday, 15 March 2026, at the end of the day, Fontainebleau. (Note: admissions will be on a rolling basis.) The application fee must be paid as soon as possible for those who submit by the application deadline to secure their spots.

  3. Students who are currently applying for PhD programmes for the Fall 2026 entry

To ensure a successful application to the online summer camp, please submit the following: 

  1. Complete the online application form, including a statement of purpose or letter of motivation. (Create an online application account at https://inse.ad/apply-ai-summer-camp; select PhD Programme, then the AI Summer Camp Online application form)
  2. CV - upload an e-copy (PDF, < 1 MB in file size)

Submission deadline: Sunday, 15 March 2026, end of day, Fontainebleau time. Please note that admissions will be processed on a rolling basis.

Confirmation of your registration will be communicated to you via email. Payment instructions will be provided in the email confirmation. 

Admission will be finalised upon receipt of payment.

Admitted candidates will be notified by 20 March 2026. Admissions will be on a rolling basis. We will close the online application form and admissions once we reach the maximum capaity of participants.

Fee: 250 Euros*      

*Fee is only applicable to NON-INSEAD/Wharton participants (incoming students, predocs, researchers/RAs). 

Confirmation of your registration will be communicated to you via email. Admission will be finalised upon receipt of payment.

For non-INSEAD/Wharton participants, payment instructions will be provided in the email confirmation. 

Cancellation Policy: 

To provide a quality summer camp experience for all attendees, INSEAD will apply the following refund policy to the registration fees:

Full refund (no penalty): Cancellations made by 01 April 2026 (inclusive)

30% refund: Cancellations received between April 1 and April 10, 2026 (inclusive). 

No refund: Cancellations after 10 April 2026

FAQs

Who can apply to participate in the camp?

Predoctoral students, Researchers (RAs/Fellows without PhDs or are not currently enrolled in one) and students who are applying for PhD Programmes for the Fall 2026 entry, regardless of area, who are interested in exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and methodologies in organisational research, including areas such as Strategy, Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Theory, and Entrepreneurship, are encouraged to participate. Participants in good standing from any PhD programme are welcome to apply.

Are you accepting PhD students into the online summer camp? 

No, we do not accept PhD students or students already pursuing their PhDs. 

I am currently pursuing my applications for PhDs beginning in the Fall of 2026, but haven't received any admissions yet. Can I still apply for the programme? 

Yes, you can apply for the online summer camp. Once registration is confirmed, you will receive the payment details to complete your registration. Admission to the programme will be final only once you have paid the online course fee of 250 Euros. Please note that we will close the application form before the deadline if we've met the maximum capacity for the online summer camp. 

I am currently applying to the INSEAD/Wharton PhD programme, but I haven't received any admissions offers from either school for the Fall 2026 intake yet. Can I still apply for the programme? 

Yes, you can apply for the online summer camp and complete the registration process (i.e., pay the fees). Online summer camp fees will be waived only for candidates who are successfully admitted to the programme of either of the two schools as part of the INSEAD-Wharton Alliance. 

If you are successfully admitted to either school's PhDs, your spot is secured (provided that you have already sent in your application on or before the deadline or before we close our online application once we've reached the maximum capacity), and the fees will be refunded (if you've paid in advance to secure your spot). As such, we strongly encourage you to prepare and submit a competitive PhD application for the Fall 2026 programme. 

I've started my PhD but stopped. I am now applying for PhDs to continue my studies. Can I apply? 

Our online summer camp priority is for applicants who do not hold a PhDs or are not currently enrolled in one. However, we still encourage you to submit your application so we can review it, taking into account your background, statement of purpose, or letter of motivation, before advising you of the results and next steps. 

How many online participants are you admitting to the online summer camp?

We aim to accommodate up to 100 online participants. We will close the online application before the deadline if we have met the maximum capacity.

What's the medium of instruction? 

English.

Is the camp held in person or online, or hybrid? 

The camp is conducted entirely online via Zoom. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection to fully experience the live classes and interact with the faculty and other online participants.

How do I apply? What are the steps? 

Step 1: Create an APOL account at https://inse.ad/apply-ai-summer-camp

Step 2: Go to the PhD programme (top navigation) and select Pre-Doctoral Online Summer Camp. Click apply

Step 3: Complete the form. It takes 5-10 minutes to complete the form, including pasting your letter of motivation or statement of purpose

Step 4: Upload your CV 

Step 5: Submit the form

Step 6: Pay the participation fees within 2-3 days upon receipt of confirmation. 

Once you have submitted the form, the Course Director will review your application. We will send you the payment details via email to inform you that you've been admitted, pending the receipt of payment. Admissions are on a rolling basis. We strongly encourage you to apply early and pay your fees on time to secure your spot. We will close the online application form once we've reached the maximum capacity of online participants. 

What is the deadline for the application?

Sunday, 15 March 2026, end of day, Fontainebleau. Please note that admissions are on a rolling basis. Once we reach the maximum capacity, we will close the online registration.

Are the sessions taught live or pre-recorded? In what time zone will the camp be held? 

To experience the complete and high-quality online camp, it will be taught live and not pre-recorded. The sessions are interactive and hands-on, encouraging live participation from the participants. The sessions will be held in the Fontainebleau, France time zone.

Will you be recording the sessions and sharing them with the participants?

No. We will not record the sessions. We expect participants to attend the live online sessions.
