Biography

Rodney is the Managing Director of Redefining Value and Education at the WBCSD. In this role, Irwin is responsible for a portfolio of projects designed to advance the measurement and valuation of externalities to take sustainable development into the mainstream reporting of an organization. He is the link between WBCSD members and standard / regulation setters and he is leading projects in risk management, integrated and mandatory reporting and is developing education programs designed for senior finance staff. In addition, he is the course director of WBCSD’s Leadership Program and leads WBCSD work on education and manages the relationship with WBCSD’s education partners He holds a degree in Economics, a master’s degree in management and a Doctorate where he researched comparative corporate governance and its interrelationship with ethical decision making and reporting at ISM Paris. Irwin has also completed the Masters in Sustainability Leadership at Cambridge University as a member of the inaugural cohort in 2012. Professionally he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, a Certified Fraud examiner, a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and a Specialist member of the Institute of Risk Management UK. Irwin sits on The Council of the IIRC, is a Board Member of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and sits on the Sustainability Council of several global businesses. He is an honorary Professor in the Sustainability Faculty of Leuphana University, Germany and an honorary Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University Management School and is a frequent guest lecturer at Yale University.
