Riccardo Braglia’s career spans over almost 40 years. He has a wealth of international experience in the pharmaceutical and the chemical pharmaceutical manufacturing industries, and a strong entrepreneurial mindset, driving business growth and striving to create a patient-centric culture.
Mr. Braglia heads Helsinn, the family-run pharmaceutical Group founded by his father in 1976. A global pharmaceutical company and a leader in supportive care focused on improving the health and quality of life of patients with cancer and chronic diseases. Helsinn has always been driven by the desire to improve the lives of cancer patients, guided by core values of integrity, passion and quality.
Riccardo Braglia is Executive Chairman and CEO of Helsinn Healthcare SA, Switzerland and Chairman of Helsinn Therapeutics (U.S.), Inc., USA. He serves as Member of the Board of Helsinn Birex Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Ireland, Helsinn Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd, China and of Helsinn International (LUX) SA, Luxembourg.
Mr. Braglia holds the position of Vice Chairman and Group CEO at 3B Future Holding SA, Switzerland, Family Office, which, governed by key ethical values and principles, oversees, and supports the Group’s companies. These, with a professional team of international experts, and with a solid track record, operate in various industrial and financial business activities within the healthcare sector, as well as, in real estate. He serves as Managing Partner at 3B Future Health Ventures Sarl., Monaco, Scientific Advising, as Chairman and General Partner at 3B Future Health Fund I SA SICAR, Luxembourg, Biotech Fund and as Legal Representative of Helprem SA, Switzerland.
Mr. Braglia is Chairman of the new Group HAS Healthcare Advanced Synthesis SA, Switzerland, a leading international developer and producer in the CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) sector, and Cerbios-Pharma SA, Switzerland, a global manufacturer of chemical and biological APIs, including antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
Riccardo Braglia holds several senior leadership roles across multiple businesses and is engaged in philanthropic initiatives, supporting cultural, social, and artistic activities as well as international research against cancer.
Riccardo Braglia serves as Member of the Board of Directors of Medacta International SA, Switzerland, a global company specializing in the design, production, and distribution of innovative orthopaedic products, as well as the development of surgical innovations. Riccardo Braglia’s determination to contribute to the advancement of healthcare is clearly reflected in his active involvement as a Board Member of the Conquer Cancer, The ASCO Foundation, USA, of the Ticino Foundation for Cancer Research, supporting oncology research and innovative healthcare initiatives; he is also Member of the Board of the Helmut Horten Foundation, Switzerland, which promotes healthcare by providing grants to medical centers, hospitals, and other healthcare institutions, as well as offering support to individuals in need of medical care. He is also a Board Member of the Ticino Foundation for Cancer Research.
In addition, he supports medical research and academic work performed by students at Swiss universities.
Riccardo Braglia’s commitment and dedication to young people and their education is expressed through his role as co-founder and President of the New Flower in Africa Foundation, Switzerland.
The Foundation provides educational and training support, promoting and sustaining basic education for children and young people, with the goal of reducing illiteracy and social injustice across the African continent.
His passion for art is reflected in his active role as a Board Member of the Gabriele and Anna Braglia Foundation, which organizes art exhibitions, lectures, and other cultural activities related to modern and contemporary art, both in Switzerland and internationally.
Riccardo Braglia’s experience in corporate strategy and innovation in the healthcare sector is enriched by his strong academic background.
He holds a degree in Economics and Business with a specialization in Industrial Enterprise from the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan.
