Nicholas is passionate about bringing out the best in people and their organisations by tapping into the under-utilised knowledge and resources often lying under the radar in individuals and teams. He helps them recover these resources and connect them to individual vision and organisational goals, as well as finding clarity and focus, and clearing obstacles and interferences in pursuing these goals.
Nicholas’ passion in coaching stems from his own experience in personal transformation that saw him re-examining his career and life priorities and taking bold steps in re-aligning and realising his personal and career visions. Before becoming a coach, Nicholas has more than ten years of experience in various management positions in leading teams and managing P&L at one of the largest international banking groups in Hong Kong, and also as Finance Director at his family textile and garment business in Indonesia. His experiences in both large multinational and local entrepreneurial businesses help him quickly grasp the context and challenges of his clients.
Nicholas has been coaching entrepreneurs, high-potential executives and team leaders since 2010 in a broad range of industries including Finance, Insurance, Industrial Multinationals, Hospitality, Media, Family Businesses, and Non-profit organisations. He is also one of the alumni career coaches for London Business School for the Asia Pacific Region. Nicholas specialises in partnering with his clients in making self-discoveries of blind spots and hidden resources not only in themselves but also in their stakeholder network and context, seeing the bigger picture while not forgetting the details, and co-creating development plan and action steps to achieve their individual and organisational goals. Nicholas also facilitates corporate training programmes on coaching skills as a management and leadership resource, personal leadership, and emotional intelligence.
Active in promoting coaching in Hong Kong, Nicholas is currently the President of the Hong Kong International Coaching Community and was the Secretary of the International Coach Federation – Hong Kong Chapter from 2011 to 2015. In helping clients and new coaches learn more about the inner working of coaching, Nicholas has co-authored two books - “Much Ado about Coaching” and “Translating Coaching Codes of Practice”.
Outside of work Nicholas enjoys classical music, opera, singing, forest and nature walking, yoga, travel, and has entered into new chapters in his life as husband to Vanessa in 2018 and father to baby Nathaniel in 2019.
