Luis was born and raised in Brazil, where he graduated with a degree in Economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1988.
After several years in corporate and investment banking with Citibank N.A. in Latin America, he attended the INSEAD MBA programme in Fontainebleau, graduating in 1993. He subsequently joined Capital Group, where he has built his entire professional career.
Over more than 30 years with the firm, Luis has held a broad range of investment and leadership responsibilities. He served for 20 years as Chair of Capital Group’s Luxembourg Funds and currently remains a Partner at Capital Group as well as Chair of its Swiss subsidiary.
Luis and his wife, Angela, have lived in Geneva, Switzerland, since 1994, where they raised their two sons.
In addition to their long-standing support of INSEAD, Luis and Angela are committed to Geneva’s cultural institutions and to the advancement of human rights.
