Jia Jih (JJ) Chai is a prominent figure in Southeast Asia's tech industry, known for his leadership roles in companies like Airbnb, Carousell, and Rainforest.
In 2012, JJ became the first Airbnb employee in Southeast Asia, serving as Managing Director for the region. He played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding Airbnb's presence across Southeast Asia and India, adapting the platform to cater to diverse markets.
In 2016, JJ joined Carousell, a mobile classifieds app, as Senior Vice President of Business. His responsibilities encompassed international expansion, business strategy, sales, and marketing, contributing to Carousell's growth in the online marketplace sector.
Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, JJ co-founded Rainforest in 2020, an e-commerce brand aggregator focusing on acquiring and scaling brands in the home goods, mother and child, and personal care sectors. As CEO, he leverages his extensive experience to drive Rainforest's mission of nurturing promising start-ups.
Beyond his executive roles, JJ is an active angel investor, supporting the growth of Southeast Asia's start-up ecosystem. His investments reflect his commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
